Burebista and Deceneus: the golden age of Dacian unification
The height of the Dacian kingdom comes with the reign of Burebista (82–44 BC), the great king who managed for the first time in history to unite the Dacian tribes under a single crown. Supported by the high priest Deceneus, Burebista began deep religious and social reforms, and turned Dacia into a regional power to be feared. After the disappearance of Burebista, his successors such as Comosicus tried to maintain spiritual and political unity in a period marked by great challenges.
